Fiscal Sponsorship FAQs

Q: What Fiscal Sponsorship IS:

Fiscal Sponsorship defines the financial relationship between you and the Global Center, a tax-exempt, IRS-certified 501(c)(3) non-profit educational foundation, which acts as a Fiscal Agent, allowing individuals and groups to solicit tax-deductible contributions from potential donors for communication projects [film, print, dance, photography, etc.] as long as they fit within the Foundation’s educational mission and guidelines.

Q: What Fiscal Sponsorship is NOT:

The Global Center does not provide funds for any purpose. Instead, it channels funds you raise through our tax-exempt, non-profit foundation. This is a “checks only” and “donations only” relationship. Your project, through us, cannot accept equipment, sports or theater tickets, food, services, any barter, etc. We do not accept credit cards, money orders or cash donations.

Make the check payable to The Global Center and a note in the memo subject referencing the name of your organization and/or project. Please refer to the illustration below:

Q: Are there specific eligibility requirements in order to gain fiscal sponsorship through your organization?

Simply send us a one or two paragraph description of your project. If it fits within the mission and educational guidelines of the International Center For Global Communications, Inc. aka The Global Center mandate, we will act as your fiscal sponsor. Please provide your organization name, name of contact and title, address, contact numbers, and email.

We will send you a 2-page agreement to be signed by you and sent back to us. We will then send you a fully executed contract complete with all signatures. From that point on you may raise money via our non-profit corporation.

Q: What is the application process?

We will review the application, determine if it fits within our mission and educational guidelines and contact you with the answer. If accepted, there is a $100 administrative fee payable to The Global Center. You send this check in with your agreement.

Q: What is the next deadline and how long does the application process usually take?

We have a rolling admissions policy and the process usually takes just a few days.

Q: What are the standard terms of your fiscal sponsorship program?

The Global Center takes a 5% [Five Percent] administration fee of all money raised. Make checks payable to THE GLOBAL CENTER only, with the name of the project & organization in the Memo area of the check. Checks made out to anything else are returned at your expense. Checks ONLY; no money orders or credit cards.

Procedure: Once we have received a check, deposited it, and it has cleared our bank, the 5% Five Percent] administrative fee is deducted and a check is made out to your organization.

Q: Can we obtain copies of your Mission Statement, Board Members or Proof of your 501(c)(3) status?

Our Mission Statement is here for you to print out as a .pdf. We can provide other documents you may need, if and when, potential donors require them. To verify our non-profit status, go to the IRS/Treasury web site and search for The International Center for Global Communications Foundation, Inc.
